This page is a summary of each Companies Liability. This amount is what you would be liable to pay in the event of an accident or damage to the vehicle, regardless of who is at fault. The liability applies in respect of each claim, not rental.

Security Bonds

All branches take a Security Bond at the beginning of the rental. Please be aware that some companies charge a non-refundable administration fee, approximately US$10-$40, in addition to the security bond.

Travel Insurance

Even if you do reduce your liability we strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance before you leave home, for total peace of mind. Insurance policies cover cancellation fees, medical expenses, baggage and much more.

Britz

Standard Liability

All Britz Motorhomes includes a Standard Liability of US$1,000 for secondary Comprehensive and Collision coverage for the rented vehicle.

Public Liability Insurance is included and is to cover accidents in the event that the Renter is at fault. The policy protects the Renter/Driver to Statutory Limits (State mandated minimum liability coverage). Liability coverage is applicable in the state where the accident occurred. In addition to this, a bond will be collected at the time of entering into the Rental Contract. Payment of this Bond is only accepted by credit card. The amount above will be authorized blocked) to the credit card account immediately.

Liability Reduction Options (LRO)

There are no options available to reduce the Standard Liability.

Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI)

Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI)is an optional extra and may be purchased for an additional fee. SLI provides the customer and any authorized driver on the rental contract with an increased limit of liability protection for up to US$500,000 toward 3rd party damage claims.

Standard Liability 

Basic minimum statutory auto liability coverage is included in the rental rates. All coverages are subject to the Terms and Conditions of the Rental Contract.

Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI)

Included with all USA Rentals – Not Valid in Mexico

SLI provides excess liability coverage up to a total of $1,000,000 combined single limit of coverage per occurrence against claims made by third parties for bodily injury, death, and/or property damage caused by operation of the vehicle. EXCLUSIONS APPLY. A partial list is contained in the Rental Contract. Please check at departure.

Coverage Summaries

Provided you abide by the Terms and Conditions of the Rental Agreement, report accidents and/or damage promptly, and avoid prohibited vehicle uses, your coverages include:

• Auto Liability: Statutory and excess Supplemental Liability Insurance up to $1,000,000.
• Vehicle Damage / Loss: Per occurrence or incident, only $2,500 of responsibility. You are covered for amounts in excess of $2,500 under most conditions.
• Trip Reimbursement: Travel Expenses incurred as a result of mechanical breakdown up to $3,000 per tour.

Zero Damage Plan (ZDP)

Deposit/Bond for all rentals during Burning Man Travel is USD 1,000.00

El Monte - International Value Program

This program is only valid for non USA residents

Standard Liability

El Monte RV offers VIP coverage which is separate protection that reduces Renters financial responsibility for all physical damage to the Rental Vehicle to the applicable deductible of US$1,500 (US$5,000 for overhead damage and undercarriage damage including entry step, tires and wheels).

VIP is a contractual agreement between the El Monte RV and the Renter, wherein El Monte RV agrees not to collect more than the applicable deductible of US$1,500 per occurrence from Renter for damages to the Rental Vehicle.

Liability Reduction Options (LRO)

There are no options available to reduce the Standard Liability.

Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI)

Supplemental Liability Insurance provides excess auto liability insurance that protects the renter for the difference between the underlying insurance and up to US$500,000 against claims by a third party for bodily injury and/or damage sustained as a result of an accident while operating the El Monte RV rental vehicle.

Mexico Auto Liability Insurance(MALI)

El Monte RVs Mexico Auto Liability Insurance is required protection which the renter must obtain from El Monte RV when renting an EL Monte RV vehicle and will be traveling to Mexico. Being added to El Monte RVs Mexico Auto Liability Insurance policy provides excellent coverage and eliminates the hassles of trying to obtain insurance at the border.

This insurance provides coverage for physical damage to or total theft of the El Monte RV rental vehicle, third party liability and medical payments. Coverage also includes legal assistance to aid in the prevention of the driver from going to jail.

El Monte

This program is valid for ALL nationalities worldwide including USA domestic.

All clients are required to either provide or obtain Primary Third Party Liability Insurance up to the US Statutory Limits (these limits vary within each state).

Those clients who do not want to use their own insurance as primary or do not have sufficient insurance or do not have valid insurance for a motorhome, will be required to purchase RLI.

Note that if VIP cover is not taken then the client is liable for the full cost of repair to the vehicle.

Vehicle Incident Protection (VIP)

El Monte RV offers VIP coverage which is separate protection that reduces Renters financial responsibility for all physical damage to the Rental Vehicle to the applicable deductible (liability) of US$1,500. VIP is a contractual agreement between the El Monte RV and the Renter, wherein El Monte RV agrees not to collect more than the applicable deductible of US$1,500 per occurrence from Renter for damages to the Rental Vehicle.

Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI)

Supplemental Liability Insurance provides excess auto liability insurance that protects the renter for the difference between the underlying insurance and up to US$500,000 against claims by a third party for bodily injury and/or damage sustained as a result of an accident while operating the El Monte RV rental vehicle.

SLI is not available for purchase at rental offices in  Nebraska, New York and Virginia.

Rental Liability Insurance (RLI)

Rental Liability Insurance acts as Primary Third Party Liability Insurance up to the required financial responsibility limits. RLI is not available for purchase at rental offices in Arizona, District of Columbia, Florida, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, New York, Nevada, New Hampshire,  South Carolina, South Dakota, Vermont  and Virginia.

RLI & SLI Explanation

RLI is Primary Third Party Liability Insurance up to the required financial responsibility limits.  So if the renter accidentally damages someone else's property or injures someone with the motorhome, then the renter is protected from the claim up to the state minimums of whatever state the accident occurs in.  Cost of RLI is $13.50 per night.  

Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI) starts where RLI ends.  

SLI is Additional Third Party Liability Insurance which increases the protection against Third Party Liability claims up to $500,000 once the state minimums have been met.  So if the renter accidentally damages someone else's property or injures someone with the motorhome, then the renter is protected from the claim up to One Million USD.  Cost of SLI is $15.75 per night.  

Mexico Auto Liability Insurance(MALI)

El Monte RVs Mexico Auto Liability Insurance is required protection which the renter must obtain from El Monte RV when renting an EL Monte RV vehicle and will be traveling to Mexico.
